The Royal Sovereign, Brighton

July 11, 2011

Last night we met with a couple of friends for a good old roast; it may be July, but this is England and therefore a roast is never really ruled out due to it being ‘too hot’.

The Royal Sovereign offers the best roast dinner which I’ve ever had at any pub; the vegan options are plentiful, and you don’t miss out on anything. Well, apart from a yorkshire pudding. Other pubs in Brighton cannot offer a roast because the vegetable aren’t vegan, or the gravy isn’t vegan- the Royal Sovereign has two options on Sundays, and during the week they also offer vegan sheeze pizzas, sandwiches, platters etc. The pub is traditional and friendly, and brilliant all year round.

We always pick the veg-box pie; seasonal vegetable and houmous pie with all the trimmings- roast potatoes, roast squash, cabbage, greens and parsnip crisps. Plus gravy.
