A south Indian food in which a thin batter made from fermented lentils and rice blended with water is fried similar to a crepe. It is served with a number of accompaniments including chutney and sambar.

You know when you have never tried something before? You’ve never heard of it, you would never pick this item from a menu, and you’re pretty sure that a lot of your friends have never heard of this either?

Dosa’s were one of those things for me; I can remember the restaurant where  I first tried one, and I’ve never looked back. They are pretty much my favourite thing to order from a south Indian restaurant, and I’m so happy when I see them on the menu. 

The only downside of dosa’s, are that they pretty much take half your life to make. Or so I’ve heard. And read. I just don’t think I have the patience, or that my belly could wait the couple of days which it takes for the rice to ferment and the batter to form. So we cheated, and I’m not even ashamed to admit it- these are made from packets of dosa mix and sambar powder! Though the potato curry filling was hand-made…! I could eat these everyday and not get bored. Dosa, will you marry me?
