Hello December

December 1, 2011

Hello December! This year has gone incredibly quickly, and I can’t believe we’re back round to December already. It really feels like only a few months ago that we were enjoying snow-days and writing resolutions.

This morning I woke up to find a gift from Trout – my own advent calendar! He knows me so well, and instead of getting me a chocolate one he bought me a Playmobile one!! We sat in bed putting all of the pieces together, and it is just so exciting! Each box has a playmobile toy in, which you put together to make a nativity scene. There is even an organ which works!! And a cute sledge! He wouldn’t let me see all of the pieces so that it’s still a suprise when I open each box every morning. I’ll take some photographs this evening to show you all.

I stocked his Advent calendar ready for the countdown to Christmas; this year it’s filled with jelly tots, snips of strawberry pencils, starburst, peppermint creams, lovehearts and dark chocolate chunks.

I ordered a packet of Dairy Free Chocovered Raisins with our weekly shop from Sainsburys, and although it is brilliant that you can find unusual treats in such a huge supermarket, I was a little disappointed with these. The chocolate lacked flavour and sweetness, which is a shame but we can buy brilliant carob raisins from a sweetshop in the Lanes, so all is not lost.

In more food news I am going to Food for Friends this evening for a Christmas meal with a group of friends – this has become somewhat of a tradition now for us, and I’m really excited to see everyone and begin celebrating the start of the festive season!

I hope everyone is feeling festive and getting into the spirit of counting down until Christmas! I even received my first Christmas card yesterday, and me and Trout are planning our own personalised cards to send out this year…. more will be revealed shortly!

I love advent calendars, I don’t have one this year. When I was younger I used to get so excited about opening the next box. December did seem to come very quickly this year xx

Well, it is the Family Advent Calendar – but seeing as Rasputin and I both have our own special ones, this one has become Trout’s advent calendar!
