Good things will come

December 9, 2011

Unfortunately my little holiday has come to an end! Back to work today. Well, for one day. And then it’s the weekend. It’s a hard life! To celebrate the end of my time off we put together a little cheese board of goodies for dinner:

This included fresh and delicious white french stick, ritz crackers, gherkins, white grapes, olives and almond feta.

The feta (pictured on the left and the top right hand corner of the photograph above) is another brilliant recipe from Maple Spice. It’s been years since I’d even tried feta, but for me this is more like a firmer cream cheese – a really fun addition to the meal! Quite simple to make, it just needs some time to prepare in advance, and tastes brilliant squashed onto fresh bread with a scoop of pickle on top.

I felt like Jamie Oliver when I was putting this board together.

The last couple of days have been really relaxing; I went on a mad cleaning spree yesterday and cleaned the flat from top to bottom, all of the nooks and crannies. It felt wonderful! I don’t feel so good today though, I ache all over haha. I went to a really lovely gathering with all of the other volunteers who help with the soup-run on Wednesday evening, and we sat around and drank gorgeous mulled wine and ate fresh, spiced curries. Yesterday saw some more Christmas present shopping and some baking, chilling out on the sofa and staying away from the wild winds and horrid rain. One day to go and then the weekend, hurrah! I hope you all have lovely plans to look forward to!
