11 Things!

January 31, 2012

Catching up with blogs is one of my favourite past times, and I love finding out more about my favourite bloggers! So I was super chuffed to be ‘tagged’ by one of my favourite bloggers Emma, over at The Quirky Kitchen in the latest round of 11 Things!

The Rules are as follows:

List 11 fun facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions your ‘tagger’ has given you, nominate as many bloggers as you fancy and set 11 questions for them to answer!

Here are my 11 Things:

1. I’ve never had a detention in my life – I used to be terrified of getting into trouble at school! The closest I came to being given detention was when our bonkers Science tutor tried to put the whole class on detention. The whole class! And I still cried!

2. I used to play the flute, and completed up to Grade 5 exams. I failed my Grade 5 theory though, so couldn’t continue any further but did take the exams unofficially with my tutor and reached Grade 8.

3. I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost ten years ♥. We met at college in Lewes when we were 16 years old.

4. My favourite singer will probably always be Meatloaf. When I was 3 years old I was asked to sing a song at one of my Dad’s Magic Society Christmas Parties. I sang ‘Bat out of Hell’.

5. I’ve been vegan for 6 years, and was vegetarian for 6 years before that.

6. I had a henna tattoo drawn on when I was in Greece, aged 16. It was a ball of fire and covered my entire left calf – I soon realised I was severely allergic to henna and the reaction was NOT pleasant! I also used to dye my hair bright pink, but that had to stop after I developed an allergy to hair dye as well.

7. Houmous is my favourite food in the WORLD. I have to have it pretty much everyday. I also have oatmeal, broccoli, squash, Trek bars, Bear fruit roll-ups and tofu pretty much everyday. Coffee is a staple – 5 cups minimum.

8. I was always a total dog-lover; not anti-cats so much as really not bothered by them. Until I got Rasputin, and now I love them! Still, I cannot wait to own a dog when we have a house!

9. I didn’t drink for 2 years, between the ages of 19 and 21.

10. I love tapestry print; I have 2 bags, a camera case, 2 photo frames, a purse, 2  pairs of shoes and a suitcase in this print.

11. My family are obsessed with Greece – my Grandparents have visited dozens and dozens of islands and have a bookshelf heaving with guides. My Grandad taught Greek for a while, too. I’ve visited 10 islands; we went to a different island every year when I was growing up, and last summer me and Mr T went to Crete.

Here are the questions that lovely Emma posed:

1) What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?

Recently I would have to say Nicky posting me so many delicious treats! Another thing I can think of is when I was rushing to catch the train to Winchester for a University viewing, and a stranger offered me a lift in her car as she could tell I was in a hurry!

2) Of all the things that you own, what is your favourite item and what does it reveal about you?

It probably sounds kind of ridicolous, but my Mac: I love writing, blogging, tweeting, reading blogs and finding new companies, products, restaurants, exhibitions, galleries, sending emails etc. My laptop sums up all of these things. If I had to choose something which wasn’t technology-related I would probably say my Great Grandmother’s engagement ring because it’s absolutely beautiful or a bunch of cotton flowers that Mr T gave me for Christmas 2010 because they are so pretty and thoughtful.

3) If you were writing an advert in a dating column, what would you say about yourself?

26 year old vegan seeks like-minded individual with GSOH. Must enjoy singing along to Meatloaf and have a lot of patience.

4) First date. You say you’ll cook. You really like him/her – what will you make to impress?

Oh gawd! Can I get a takeaway? No? Then I suppose I would make maybe ravioli – that’s quite romantic, right? Maybe bruschetta to start? And if (when) it all goes tits up I’ll dish out the pitta bread and houmous.

5) What is your favourite book?

Anders Nilsen – Don’t go where I can’t follow
The most heartbreaking illustrated book you will ever read.

6) What was your nickname as a child?

Tizz – because I used to get in such a tizz about everything! I have a necklace with this nickname on ♥

7) If you could spend a day in a place of your choice, where would you go and what would you do?

I would go to Barcelona with Mr T and spend the day with my best friend, Laia. We would walk around, do some shopping, eat vegan croissants, go for some drinks and dinner and then party alll night.

8) You go to the zoo…..what animals do you head to first?

9) What was your favourite childhood toy?

My teddy! He was called Ted. Original, I know.

10) If you were going to meet one of your fellow bloggers in your home town, where would you take them?

I would take them for a walk along the seafront and a trip to the pier (even though I hate the pier, I think it’s important for guests to experience!). Then a walk around the North Lanes, stop at my favourite coffee shop for delicious coffee, then head to Iydea for lunch. Have a browse around Snoopers Paradise, then walk up to Infinity to stock them up with local vegan treats and products! Carry on to the South Lanes and pop into Boho Gelato for some sorbet, then back to my flat to meet Rasputin and snuggle up with a movie and a glass of wine.

11) What would you consider to be your greatest talent?

Procastrinating? I wouldn’t say it was either ‘great’ or a ‘talent’ but I really enjoy writing, and hope that one day I can say it is my greatest talent. Either that or baking carrot cake.

Now to nominate some fellow bloggers!

3. What’s your happiest memory?

4. What’s your greatest achievement?

5. Favourite city?

6. Who is your secret, embarrasing crush?

11. Sum yourself up in 5 words!

Thanks for tagging me! I’ve been vegan for 6 years too AND I have loved Meatloaf forever! I actually cracked my head open when I was four because I was rocking out to Meatloaf so hard that I cracked my head open on a metal bucket & had to be rushed to hospital!
