London Eating: Tibits

March 16, 2012

As we wanted to eat somewhere really accessible and central for our final anniversary dinner we opted for Tibits. I’ve nipped in a couple of times before for take-away tubs but never been for dinner, and it’s perfect for both.

I grabbed a couple of spoonfuls of all the dishes that caught my eye – which was pretty much everything! Each dish has a card which indicates whether it is suitable for vegans, whether it contains nuts, gluten etc. The cards are brilliantly subtle, which leaves the diner free to choose by appearance and instinct.

As you can see I made sure I tried pretty much every dish! My favourite has to be the dried bean salad, which is tossed with walnuts and a coriander dressing. It’s absolutely amazing! I picked up the recipe card on my way out too, so will be giving this a go at home! I also loved the black quinoa, and an amazing chilled dahl, with crisp tomato chunks stirred through. You can also see tortollini, rice salad and the best flippin onion rings I’ve ever eaten! Plus you get a free bread roll to dip in the roasted pepper houmous that’s also on offer.

As it was our anniversary we treated ourselves to dessert – there were a couple of options, one being muesli which I think had been soaked in soya yoghurt. Quite strange for an evening dessert, but it was tasty none-the-less. The second choice I was super excited about: panna cotta! I’ve never tried this dessert before, vegan or otherwise, and I was so impressed! With a hint of vanilla and a gorgeous blackcurrent topping, it was a perfectly light end to the meal. We also grabbed a slice of mango cake to take-away with us, which I can confirm is AMAZING!

To wash the meal down we enjoyed a couple of cocktails (we were celebrating, after all!) which were absolutely fantastic – really fresh, delicious. I loved the Apple & Cucumber Mojito and the Tutti Frutti Daiquiri!
