Sunshine and Sweetness

April 7, 2012

Yesterday me and Mr T strolled down to New Road for Brighton Food Festival. Two weeks of fantastic events across the city, this weekend saw stalls and stalls of locally produced food, independent companies and a general celebration of all the great food that Sussex has to offer! There was a gorgeous stand stuffed full of every herb you can think of – I was particularly intrigued by the garlic chives!

Then we walked down to the beach to enjoy the sunshine and warmth – it was such a lovely way to spend the afternoon! Of course we needed some snacks while we were on the beach. Delicious raspberry and almond cake from Iydea, and a slab of Marzipan and Cherry chocolate from Montezumas! Yum!

After a couple of hours a couple of friends joined us on the beach, and we decided to head into the Laines for an afternoon drink. The recently opened Cask caught our eye – and I’m so glad we popped in for a pint! They have a huge selection of beers on top, as well as plenty of well-stocked fridges, full of independently produced beers, often locally made as well. I really want to spend a whole afternoon in this pub, trying lots of different beers. I think that would be a lovely afternoon.

Well, I’ve wrapped up my Easter gifts and written my cards, and really looking forward to Easter Sunday. I’m cooking a collaborative roast dinner with my sister and Mr T – I’m in charge of the veggies, my sister is bringing her infamous and extremely delicious nut roast, and Mr T will make some of his cracking gravy! I’m sad that half of my family are in three different places at the moment, and it’s not possible for us to spend the day together, but hopefully in a couple of weeks we can all spend the weekend together and have Easter pt II. I hope you all enjoy the day and make sure you enjoy some chocolate!
