What a beautiful day to catch my drift

July 24, 2012

I am so happy that summer has finally arrived! It may be brief, and the clouds might already be collecting rain and drawing up plans to shower us completely and utterly next week – but for now, let’s enjoy our week-long summer and be thankful.

Today was such a busy, long day. I woke up early, after going to bed at 9.30pm, and completed a workout. I had breakfast, walked to the office in beautiful sunshine, wearing my very favourite sandals, and tried to plow through the mountain of work that had seemingly appeared overnight. At 11.30am I had a doctor’s appointment, and then at 12pm I managed to grab an appointment with the nurse for a bloodtest. Hopefully I will finally have an answer as to why I feel so tired all the time.

12.30pm I met my parents and walked down to the Laines for some lunch. I’m always a little nervous about taking them out to lunch – being of the non-vegan variety they do keep a fairly open mind, but my Dad is a meat-eater at heart! We chose Wai Kika Moo Kau, which I love – it has such a relaxed atmosphere, and the food always tastes brilliant. My Dad went for an all-day breakfast, my Mum went for the burger and I chose a sausage wrap. Yum!

Afterwards I walked them down to the chinese supermarket on Sydney Street so that my Dad could stock up on cooking supplies. It’s so nice when they come down and visit, even though the journey is quite long (1.5hrs on the bus, in this heat!) it’s nice for them to see where we live. As we were leaving my Mum handed me an envelope with a little gift, some post which had been sent to their address, and an article from the newspaper about a cat getting licked by a cow.

I love that she still cuts me out little snippets and cute pictures from the paper! When I was living at home I would always come back from work to find a note telling me to turn to p47, where an article about Peter Andre would be found, or a photograph of a baby seal.

This evening I am back to the soup-run and then have a Skype date with Laia ♥ I’m pretty sure I will be falling asleep almost immediately afterwards!

How is your week panning out? Have you been enjoying the sunshine?
