One Night

August 22, 2012

Trout has this funny habit of instinctively knowing (somehow) that I’m working out. I’ll be at home stretching, or starting to warm up, and he’ll call me to let me know he’s on his way home, or to ask what we are having for dinner, or to tell me a story about the office cats or… I love hearing his voice, but panting down the phone whilst trying to touch my toes and stretch out various muscles can be kind of tricky.
But when he calls to tell me he’s stopping off at the shops, and then comes home to make a dinner like this, I don’t mind so much. Jerk (vegan) chicken with vegetables, wrapped in puff pastry. It kind of blew my socks off with the sweet spice of scotch bonnet peppers in the jerk seasoning. The pastry was crisp and the vegetables were perfectly tender.

I was quite happy to have a pile of crisp, fresh lettuce to break through the heat, and slivers of cucumber to cool my tongue down. I love spicy food, and this was just a couple of notches above my interpretation of pleasantly hot (i.e. blow your socks off, but we love spice).

Last night Trout put a playlist onto his ipod and we lay on top of the duvet with all of the lights off
and the window wide open and we fell asleep listening to the music. It was kind of perfect.

Mmm that sounds so good! James always seems to come in the door just as I’m starting to do my yoga, it is a bit distracting when he’s sitting on his laptop typing away and I’m trying to get into down ward facing dog! The joys of living in a one bed flat :-)
