List the things that make you happy

November 13, 2012

I can’t believe how long it has been since I last wrote a happy list – 4 months! Naughty.
To be fair, most of the things on my previous list are still the same, so here are a few editions:

1. Sushi dates with Trout on a Wednesday, with YumTum Sushi*
2. Coffee on a Sunday morning, with a good book/magazine.
3. Going to Barcelona on Thursday (!!!) to see Laia on her birthday ♥
4. That people actually take the time to read my little blog, and comment on the things that I write. (thankyou!)
5. This article on random acts of kindness: link.
6. Sunday afternoons spent tucked up in a cosy pub watching the football.
7. Spending the weekend at my parent’s house – and even though the bus journey is painfully
l-o-n-g, I’m grateful that there is a mode of transport connecting me to this tiny town.
8. Starting my Christmas shopping slightly earlier than usual – this makes me slightly calmer!
9. Having an amazing dinner at a friends house, and playing with their new kitten (SO.CUTE).
10. Running around with Ras on my lunchbreak & letting him chase me.

I’m grateful that Costa has a comprehensive nutritional website which lets me know exactly which speciality drinks are vegan. Hello gingerbread latte! I’m grateful for the moments when Trout looks at me and we both do our bulldog impression. I’m grateful that Waitrose and Sainsbury’s have started making really decent pizza bases (without cheese) so that we can have pizza nights more frequently. I’m grateful that even though I stood on a UK/US plug adaptor, and now have US plug holes in my foot, I can still hobble to work and around town and to the pub.

But I also know that

….I leave the bedsheets on for far too long, and forget to change our towels every week. I eat spoonfuls of vanilla soya yogurt straight from the tub. I run out of time to do laundry and sometimes we have to really scrape the barrel of the pants drawer. Sometimes I spend too much time on pinterest trying to find the perfect image, when I could be using the time to write. I always leave it a little too late to order Rasputin’s cat food and he has to eat crappy pouches or horrible dry food for a couple of days (sorry Ras…).

I hope that one day I can learn to manage all of these things like a proper adult.

Awh I love happy lists <3 I think it's really important to stop and see the good in life, especially when our tendency is to focus on the bad even if there's fewer of them! You have totally made me realise that I need to start Christmas shopping sometime soon…eeek! And gingerbread lattes mmm :)
I think we all have things we would like to improve on but I guess they make us only human and in the end, we can't do everything at once, especially when all we want to do is chill out and have fun doing nice things hehe! I definitely leave the bedsheets too long and don't change the towels every week and I have to rummage round to find my last pair of pants and socks too often..but ummm…I'd much rather be in my bed or chilling out doing sod all sometimes :P

I like the happy list. I think most people focus too much on the negative parts of life so it’s always good to take a break and see the positivies.
Towels and bed sheets and laundry. Same here. Mainly because they all revolve around laundry and I don’t want to do laundry.

I don’t mind laundry – and it annoys me when it piles up! Just can’t seem to find the time to do it as often as I’d like!

I love the idea of you gleefully running away from Ras, giggling to yourself.

Love happy lists, that’s one of the reasons I like doing my love lists each week, helps me remember the good stuff! That sushi looks so pretty!

The sushi is amazing – all vegan, 7 pieces plus wasabi, soy and pickled ginger for £4.50 – bargain!
