Tis the season to be sparkly!

November 27, 2012

I think there’s something so brilliant about glitter & sparkle at Christmas – it’s the only time of the year that I really think about wearing something dazzling, and this year there are some great options on the high street, as well as beautiful findings on Etsy.

1/2/3/4/5

Of course these aren’t meant to be worn altogether!

I have a few Christmas parties and a couple of Christmas dinners planned for this year (plus the main event!), and as December rapidly approaches (and I start adding up exactly how much I am over-spending on gifts…) I can’t help but plan ahead for outfits which have maximum impact with minimal spending. I’m thinking outfits which can be easily updated with accessories, coordinated with items which I already own, and pieces that will last me until future parties.

With such a dazzling accessory, it’s essential to keep everything else in your outfit simple. I prefer to create a plain backdrop using this stunning jumpsuit from Warehouse, or a brilliantly simply LBD from Oasis. This dress has a synched in waist, v-neck front and a cut-out back, making it perfect in terms of simplicity with style. Add some soft texture with these beautiful feather earrings, also from Warehouse.

I’m completely in love with these leggings from Reiss. For a slightly more ‘casual’ look (as casual as sequined leggings can be...) they could be paired with this oversized t-shirt, or this beautiful cardigan which dips down at the back – both from Zara. To ensure that your outfit still screams party, team with this brilliant clutch from H&M.

To play down the sparkle on this simple vest, team with a pair of dark and seamless jeans – like this pair of Leigh skinnies from Topshop. I’ve got a pair of these and they are great quality, keep their shape and are perfect for dressing up or down. For a smart-casual outfit, pop on this pair of brilliantly simple heels from Zara – a bargain at under £20 – and add a bit of humour with this cute handmade moustache necklace from Ladybird Likes! This outfit is perfect for Christmas drinks with friends, or perhaps the office Christmas party.

Oh gosh, this ring is just so beautiful! It’s a white agate geode druzy ring set in brass with a 22kt gold plating. It’s true love.

This ring could be worn during the day or night – I’ve styled it with fairly simple details here as I think of course it could be worn with this LBD, but it could also be worn with something like this oversized shirt dress from Topshop, whilst carrying a beautiful Muji notebook and wearing some slightly more comfortable glittery pumps from Zara.

Another attention-grabbing accessory calls for another appearance from these Topshop jeans, to dress down those fabulous Beyond Skin heels. Pair with these lovely faux leather detail t-shirt from Zara, or layer up for a more casual, warmer look with this cosy jumper from H&M, which picks out the tones in the shoes. You could also team these with that simple LBD from Oasis.  I think essentially these are shoes that could be worn for drinks with friends on Christmas Eve, your work Christmas Party or for a simple dinner date with your other half during the festive period. Or you could team it with your onesie on Christmas Day with the family for some fabulous festivity!

What do you think of my festive favourites?
Have they helped you find the perfect Christmas outfit?
Are you a fan of sparkle?

Awh what a beautiful post! :) I don’t really wear too much glitter but Christmas is always an excuse to have one glittery thing on for a change! I LOVE those sparkly leggings!!! xx
