December 22, 2012

Tonight I’m sitting down to a warming bowl of indian-spiced peanut-rice-veggies for dinner, and trying to relax and enjoy the beginning of the Christmas break. Some time to think. Yesterday was my final day of work in my (previous) position and we were kindly allowed to finish at midday. Naturally we skipped across the road to the pub for a few drinks, before finally stumbling home shortly before midnight. It was a long day, but really nice to see so many friendly faces, catch-up and say bon voyage to all. This morning I woke up with a bit of a sore head but thankfully Trout brought me beans-on-toast in bed which set me up for the day.

Aside from enjoying some warming dinner, I’ve been making lists and figuring out the next few days. I still can’t believe it’s Christmas next week! I’m really excited to see everyone and hopefully relax, even though I have to organise so many things. This afternoon I treated myself to a gingerbread latte and a mince pie for a festive pick-me-up, which was much needed.

I was planning on going to see a friend’s band’s re-union show but I am utterly exhausted. I might still pop down later, but my pjs are calling me and there are some Christmassy movies on this evening which are tempting. Trout’s in London this evening to see Bombay Bicycle Club and I’m really hoping that he can get back ok tonight!! The trains are ridiculous today, with so many cancelled and diverted due to a fire in the station next to Brighton, and flooding along the way to London and other areas of Sussex.

Tomorrow Trout and I have the rest of our Christmas presents to buy, as well as some party nibbles for us to snack on and make sure our fridge is stocked with veggies and other things for the Christmas break. Then it’s on to the present wrapping!

How is your weekend going? Are you ready and prepared for Christmas?

Oh hope trout gets back ok! Also very jealous of him seeing Bombay bicycle club! Hope that the weather is a bit better for you down there. I can definitely relate to the pjs calling, I have to go out to my parents to give my mam a hand making the Christmas Day pudding!
