Street Diner and Cocktails

June 1, 2013

Yesterday confirmed to me just how much I love my city. I’ve been visiting and living here for a few years now, and I still love walking around the winding streets, stopping to see a pop-up piece of art or theatre, and bumping into friends.

Friday is pretty much my favourite day of the week lately – not because I can’t wait for the weekend to arrive, but because Street Diner is happening! It’s such a great way of celebrating local traders, amazing food and picking up the best lunch ever.

Look at the queue at this stall! Someone was popular!

I picked up a lovely box of mixed goodies from Sultan’s Delights – everything tasted incredible! I haven’t inhaled my food that quickly in a long time. Everything is veggie and there are loads of vegan options, too. The borek’s are really tasty, and you can choose between a veggie and a vegan option. I’ve mentioned it before but the baklava is incredible! So good that someone beat me to it and bought the entire tray before I’d even got there!

After work I met Trout for a drink, and then we walked past Jubilee Square to find a pop-up cocktail bar – obviously we had to stop for a drink! Look at the rabbit on a lead!

We snacked on this amazing street food called chat. It was like a fresh bombay mix, with chutney and diced cucumber, tomato, raw peanuts. Delish! We’re off to explore Kemptown Festival this afternoon, and I’m hoping to pick up some more goodies from local traders (I’m keeping my fingers crossed for baklava!), watching some live music and generally soaking up the sunshine!

What are your plans for the weekend? Have you been to Brighton?

Love street food stalls, outdoor eating is one of the best things about summer, and a pop-up cocktail bar sounds fab too.
We all finished finals yesterday so lots of celebrating this weekend :)

Argh, that’s just the noise of my heart strings being plucked, I’m missing Brighton so much! Can’t wait for my next visit already!

All of the street diner food looks amazing! I love baklava. Wish I could make it down to Brighton on a Friday for it.
