London Vegan Beer Fest

June 16, 2013

Every year I dream of going to the LA Vegan Beer & Food Festival. I mean, what is better than vegan southern fried bbq food, philly ‘cheese’ steak sarnies, pretzels and beer? Err – not very many things. Well, I dreamt and dreamt and finally Fat Gay Vegan made my dreams come true. Hello London Vegan Beer Fest!!

When and where is this dream festival being held?
Saturday 13th July at St. Margaret’s House, and entry is via The Gallery Cafe.

When and where do tickets go on sale?
Tickets are available here from Monday 17th June – and they’re sold on a first-come first-served basis, so don’t delay!

How much are the tickets?
Tickets start at just £7.50 but I’ve got my eye on the VIP set, which allow you early entry, access to a VIP indoor beer garden, a London Vegan Beer Fest goodie bag, a complimentary beer and an item from the BBQ! There are tickets on the door, but space is limited so don’t rely on it not being sold out!

What food can I expect?
The event is catered for by The Gallery Cafe, which I’ve been meaning to visit for around four years now… finally I will be able to sample their vegan treats! There’ll be a vegan bbq, veggie burgers, seitan skewers, potato salad and more.

Anything else I should know?
There’ll also be live music!

What makes vegan beer different to regular beer?
Alcoholic drinks, particularly beer and wine, are often fined (clarified) using animal-derived substances, which can include gelatine (boiled skin, tendons, ligaments, and/or bones), isinglass (lining of fish bladder), casein (derived from milk), chitosan (made from crustaceans) or egg albumen.

So go on, get your tickets tomorrow! Will I be seeing you there?

I love seeing more and more vegan events like these pop up! I’m not a beer fan though..but maybe I should go just to meet some cool vegans and for the food?!

This looks like a great event for a new vegan to attend! I’m hoping I can arrange to go! I recently had a debate with Waitrose about their prosecco being marked vegan along with ‘contains milk products’ due to the fining process but they said the labelling meets requirements. Confusing stuff!

It totally doesn’t meet requirements! If it was ‘COULD’ contain milk products that would be different – but it def. shouldn’t be marked vegan!
