Roadtrip pt. 2: Dresden

September 21, 2013

Here’s part two of our roadtrip – Dresden! This isn’t quite as long as yesterday’s blog post. Congratulations if you made it to the end of that one!

After we had finished our tour of Spreepark we jumped back in the car and drove to Dresden. It didn’t take long to get there – maybe a couple of hours – and as soon as we (took a wrong turn) and drove across the bridge that joins the two sides of Dresden, riddled with tram lines, I knew I was going to like this place. I actually didn’t do any research on Dresden before we left, and I couldn’t believe how amazing the architecture was. Stunning. We vibrated back across the bridge and checked into our hotel before rushing back out to start exploring the city.

Of course everything looks better when the sun is shining. We were so lucky with the weather, which continued to be beautiful during our stay in Dresden. It made walking around so lovely.

As you can probably tell from our photographs, all we really did was walk around and take in the sights. Oh, and eat cake. I’m sure if the weather had been terrible I might not have enjoyed Dresden quite so much, but as it was I loved it.

Have you been to Dresden before? Does the weather change how you see a city?

I didn’t realize that you were road-tripping and got to visit places other than Berlin. Dresden looks like another beautiful town- the architecture is stunning, especially in the sunshine. I’m sure the freezing cold and grey whilst I was in Berlin meant I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much. I’ve heard Leipzig is great so that’s the next German town on my list. Have you been?

We’ve still got Prague, Bratislava and Vienna to come! I’ve not been to Leipzig – I really want to visit Munich. I love Germany.

It looks fab, those buildings look amazing. I think the weather makes such a difference in a trip like that!

Definitely – I don’t think Dresden would be half as much fun if it were raining!
