Photos of the Week #23

June 9, 2014

WEEK 23 OF 52

Thanks so much to everyone that commented on my last blog post, it really meant a lot – especially that I’m not the only one that seems to drive themselves crazy! This weekend was really lovely, and pretty relaxing, which was exactly what I needed. I skipped the gym on Saturday as my calves were still crying from previous gym sessions (!!!) so I worked all of Saturday morning, which, by the way, felt amazing, and I managed to clear the month ahead’s freelance work. Afterwards I went into town and tried to enjoy the worst possible type of shopping – yes, even worse than jeans shopping and even bikini shopping – bra shopping. Honestly, I hate it.  As it turned out it was a complete waste of time, so I stropped off to Waitrose and spent too much money on food for the weekend, but at least we had a fun dinner before heading to a friend’s for a birthday party. I’m loving being able to spend so much time outdoors, even into the evening. I do love the warm sun. After the photography workshop on Sunday I headed down to the beach for the rest of the afternoon/early evening and I could have spent all evening there. I’m so looking forward to spending lunch breaks on the beach, and heading down to the shore straight from work. I’m lucky enough to work a few minutes from the beach, but always have to remember not to actually eat my lunch there, because seagulls are arseholes and try to steal your food, no matter who you are or what you’re eating. I’ve seen so many tourists lose their fish and chips this way :( Anyway, here’s what I’ve been up to in the last week.

Things I’ve been eating lately: a pretty random dinner after spending the afternoon on the beach; garlic & coriander naan bread, shredded lettuce, hummus, bean salad, falafel and a chunk of a spicy potato ball. Delish!//A very green dinner; stirfried kale, courgette, cashews, mushrooms and mangetout, which I then added rice to and sweet and sour sauce, and topped with dried bean curd. A pretty good ‘throw-everything-in-the-fridge-into-a-pan’ dinner.//

Brighton in the summer. There are few places better to be in the sunshine. The white houses look so beautiful against blue skies, and the smell of suntan lotion filled the air at the beach. So many people seemed happy to be visiting the city at the weekend.//That carousel. I kind of like it, for it’s kitschness and the smiles it brings to small faces. But only kind of.//

Around the house: Rasputin, caught in the shower again. He has this strange habit of sitting in the shower sometimes. It’s usually when he’s run out of water, so he tries to lick the floor of the shower, which totally makes me feel like an awful cat Mum.//The return of Orange is the New Black!! And a bowl of sweet & salty popcorn. Perfect.//Doughnut peaches! Doughnut peaches! Yum.//Putting our tips and tricks to use during the photography workshop on Sunday. We learnt so much, but it kind of made me feel like I barely knew how to turn my camera on!//

All photos taken on my iPhone. If you’re not following me on Instagram, you can find me here: http://instagram.com/paperbagblog

I hope you all had a lovely week, and have some fun plans for this week!
Did you enjoy the sunshine over the weekend?
