Photos of the Week #27

WEEK 27 OF 52

Let’s start with the usual; what I’ve been stuffing my face with this week:

We finally went to Curry Leaf Cafe, which I’ve heard so much about. They don’t have many vegan options (one starter, two main courses and a dessert) but the food is pretty good – definitely give it a try. The meat eaters we were with raved about their meals, so sounds like a good choice all round.//A gigantic summery salad, courtesy of Trout. Hello sweet potato! We had sweet potato hummus, topped with chunks of roasted sweet potato, and a handful of sweet potato crisps on the side. Yum.//

More summery meals; a bowl of Alpro lemon & lime soya yogurt topped with granola, seeds and nuts, chia and flax seeds and blueberries. So good!//A falafel wap with hummus and tabouleh (the falafel and hummus were from Taj, the tabouleh was homemade by me. I cooked! Kind of.)//

I’ve been slightly obsessed by cheesecake this week. Here we have a chocolate mousse torte and a baked blueberry cheesecake. I’ve never had a baked cheesecake before, and this was my first experiment with vegan condensed milk. Oh my gosh, this was amazing! I’m definitely making this again. I veganised this recipe, replacing the cream cheese with vegan cream cheese and using powdered egg replacement that you can find in Holland & Barrett. Do you have any condensed milk recipes that you can recommend? Vegan or otherwise, I definitely want to make more sweet things with it. Maybe dulce de leche?//

Spending time on the bed has been pretty nice in general – the skylight window open, a glass of sparkling Mexican lime and lemongrass (in a champagne flute so I feel fancy) and the last slice of that chocolate torte. These were all enjoyed with the last episode of Made in Chelsea and a cheesy book to read in the advert breaks.//

The beach. As often as possible. Trout persuaded me to spend my lunch break there (after many protests of, ‘I don’t have time!’ and, ‘I have so much to do!’) but you know what – sometimes you just have to ignore that to-do list and make the most of summer and your lovely BF and the naked burrito from Tortilla and the praying that the seagulls don’t like Mexican food.

Sometimes dropping the to do list for fun is a good way to get started again. I usually justify it by saying I’d probably waste this hour throughout the day (and more) anyway so I might as well waste it all at once and have more fun!

You’re definitely right! I came back slightly sleepy at first, but in the end more productive and a little bit more tanned ;)
