WEEK 49 OF 52

Can you believe how close we are to the end of 2014!? And can you believe that I’ve actually kept this up for a whole year (well, almost)!? It’s been great to look back over each week and think about what I’ve been up to, and what I want to be doing more of in 2015. I think I’ll continue the theme next year, as I really have enjoyed putting them together. Here’s what I got up to last week.

^^Eating PIE! It’s been so cold lately, and Trout text me on his way home to say he was freezing and needed pie. So I came home to the comforting smell of a baking pie, which we had with garlicy mash and tenderstem broccoli. That’s heaven on a plate, right there.^^

^^Salad, after a visit to the gym and eaten while Masterchef was on. We’re behind (again!) but hoping to catch up this week.^^

^^Toast in bed on Saturday morning. Sometimes you just can’t beat a slice of buttery toast.^^

^^Enjoying my toast with this whiskerface.^^

^^Festive lights in Brighton. I can’t wait for Christmas!!^^

^^Bed shopping on Sunday afternoon at Warren Evans. It’s such a beautiful showroom, and every time we walk past we would always say, ‘one day we’ll buy a bed from there!’ And now I think that time might have actually come. This bed was so ridiculously comfortable! I really didn’t want to leave.^^

So that was last week. It was fairly relaxed (I’m making the most of some quiet time alone as my calendar is looking pretty full over the next few weekends! I’m thankful for good friends and Christmas celebrations of all different kinds to look forward to), and included the start of a massive clearout. I’ve got three boxes of DVDs scanned in to send to Music Magpie – have you used them before? I’m happy with it so far, but ask me again when it’s all been sent off and I’m waiting to see how much money I actually get for them all! It felt very satisfying to turn 4 piles of DVDs into 1.5, but I just couldn’t do it to our CDs. I did sort them from eight piles into ‘keep’, ‘possible doubles’, ‘get rid of’ and ‘definitely doubles’, but ended up just keeping them all, apart from a guide to speaking French, Themes of Horror I and II, and dozens of home-made CDs that included my own playlists as well as copied albums (including photocopied covers!!). I couldn’t help scanning a whole bunch of CDs out of curiosity, to find out how much I’d get for some pretty obscure and unheard of underground bands that pretty much no-one would want unless they happened to go to punk shows in the early 2000s. Some of them went for a comparatively decent amount (bearing in mind Alanis Morissette was 5p). (I’m looking at you, Rentokill – £1.56!). (And yes I did just link to MySpace).

I had Monday and Tuesday off work this week so am just getting into the swing of things and already looking forward to the weekend. On Friday we have our Christmas party with friends; we organise it every year, and it’s such a fun way to catch up, celebrate Christmas together and exchange gifts. I’m really happy that I’ve got most of my Christmas shopping done – I find it’s such a relief when I’ve ticked everything off my list, and then it’s just the fun task of wrapping everything up. The best part! How are you doing with your present shopping? What are your plans for Christmas?

Your cooking looks super yummy! We are big fans of Masterchef at our house too. I thought about using those cd companies to sell all of my old cds when I lived in the Midlands but never followed through. Now they’re all just sitting in the garage at my in-laws house. Happy Christmas!

Oh no! Saying that, my boxed up DVDs are still sitting here waiting to for me to get them picked up…
