Photos of the Week #51

WEEK 51 OF 52

With so much going on lately, I have to admit – even if I did post about Christmas just the other day, I’m not really feeling festive at all. Not even after having so many Christmas parties. Not even after opening my advent calendar every day (or every other day, it seems). Not even after going to the pub for a roast dinner and sitting right by the Christmas tree. Sigh.

Festive feelings aside, last week was really fun. I enjoyed two Christmas parties and a lovely evening with friends – which I think is really what Christmas is all about; spending time with the people that you love. Here’s what else I got up to last week.

^^On Wednesday we had our office Christmas party. We started off with cocktails at Valentino’s (my favourite cocktail bar in Brighton) before heading to the Komedia for a three-course meal and an evening of comedy. The acts were really funny, and the food was pretty good.^^

^^My vegan meal was actually pretty good! Soup with croutons to start, an amazing cheezy fig tart with salad and optional potatoes, cabbage and carrots on the side, and then a trio of (artificial tasting) sorbet to finish.^^

^^On Friday I went to a friend’s house for dinner and an evening of watching Clarissa and Sabrina. It was so much fun! And I definitely needed some help from Clarissa as she explained it all. We watched two of the Christmas episodes of Sabrina – I’d forgotten just how funny it is!^^

^^Rasputin and my breakfast on Saturday morning. Trout made us ‘sausage’ ‘egg’ ‘McMuffin’s’.

^^On Sunday Trout and I tried a new pub for a Sunday roast; The Constant Service. We’ve been meaning to try it for the last…three years? Sometimes it takes us a while to get around to things like this ;) We’d heard it was one of the best roasts in Brighton, and it was definitely very good. The roast potatoes were probably the best I’d ever eaten, and they had two vegan options on the menu. Plus, look at those portions!^^

^^Arancini balls. Swoon. One of my favourites. Trout is such a talented cook.^^

So that was last week. And this week is Christmas! I’m still not feeling very Christmassy, even with the big day only a handful of hours away. Don’t get me wrong – I’m really excited! I’m even excited to wrap all of my presents this evening, and to finish work tomorrow and head home with a tingly feeling in my tummy as I pack a bag for the next couple of days. Everything is just a little hectic at the moment, and we haven’t even decorated the flat. Which I do feel really sad about, but what can you do. Are you feeling super festive? Can you lend some of the Christmas spirit to me?

The next couple of days will probably fly away from me, what with our office closing tomorrow and trying to get everything done today before we go. I can’t wait to see my family on Thursday! What are your plans? We’re spending Christmas Day with my family and Boxing Day with Trout’s family, before spending the rest of the holiday period at home together. Two days to go! Have you done all of your present shopping?

Ah! How is the year almost over?? I’m not feeling very festive, either. I need another month to get into the spirit I think. Have a great Christmas!
